Janice Kosman

Janice is a Michigan native who has been playing and coaching around the globe for over 30 years. She grew up honing her skills on “boys'” teams, subsequently traveling long distances to join select girls’ teams during high school which culminated in being the first player chosen on the Olympic Development Midwest Regional Team and being the top goal scorer on State Championship teams. A multiple sports athlete, Janice earned a college basketball scholarship to Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan and was an integral part of her team’s national ranking and Final Four appearance. In the off-season, she helped pioneer a women’s soccer club  that has since turned to a Varsity program. Soccer has always been a constant in her life no matter the season and to this day, has blessed her with some of her best friends and fondest memories. Janice has coached young children through high school age recreational and select teams both in the U.S. and abroad. Her self-described coaching style is patient, enthusiastic, supportive and “filled with positive reinforcement to coax more out of players than they believe they have in them!”  A former Peace Corps Volunteer, she currently is a high school English teacher (MAC) who’s lived and worked in multiple countries, loves experiencing diverse cultures and enjoys animals and the outdoors. Having grown up with limited athletic opportunities, Janice fully believes in the benefits of sports for girls… and how those can be even more enhanced when coached by women!
